Elkhorn Hills Preschool is thrilled to announce the kick-off of the Brianna Baumert Scholarship Fund. This fund is designed to help preschool families that may be experiencing financial difficulty due to an illness, job loss, or other challenges and are unable to afford preschool tuition. Recipients are chosen by the staff and or the preschool board.
Brianna embodied the characteristics we value and teach at the preschool. She was a vibrant, generous, energetic young person with a love for life and Jesus. As a former preschool student, we are pleased to have Brianna’s name be another connection between the preschool and the people of Elkhorn Hills Church. It is our intention to honor Brianna and her family by helping young families to provide their children with an education in Christ.
2011 - 2012 Calendar
We will follow the Elkhorn Public School calendar. We have the same days off for in-service, conferences and snow days. Days are counted for the entire year, tuition figures and divided into nine equal payments. If we have more snow days the school district and preschool will use the vacation days as make-up days. Children who drop will be prorated an amount to cover all days on roll to dismissal date.

Weather Closings
In case of bad weather, listen to the local radio stations or the local television stations for school closings. Announcements will be made on KFAB. We will follow the Elkhorn Public Schools for snow days or extreme cold. If they close - we close. Also, the teachers reserve the right to close even if Elkhorn is still having school if we deem that the weather is severe.

Snacks
Children will take turns bringing snacks. Each child will be assigned a day which will be printed in the monthly newsletter/calendar.
The Nebraska licensing regulations for preschools state "the snack must include at least one serving from one of the four basic food groups and meet nutritional standards set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture." Some suggestions are apples or applesauce, bananas, grapes, oranges, peaches, pears, plums, raisins or strawberries. Popsicles or frozen fruit bars must be 50% full strength juice. Vegetables allowed are carrot sticks or tomato slices. Potato chips, corn curls and banana chips do not meet the requirements. In the bread category the regulations allow bread, bagels, cereal bars, buns, muffins, cereal, or crackers (Popcorn, peanuts, mixed nuts or peanut butter are not allowed due to the risk of choking and allergies.) The last category is milk, but ice cream, yogurt and pudding are no longer allowed alone by state law. Each snack will be eaten at snack time and we do not allow treats to be sent home at the end of class. Please keep the snacks simple. You do not need to send napkins, cups or drinks. The school provides these.
